Alterations to a brick cottage in Leichhardt including a new level 1 additions with master-suite, 4th bedroom and an atrium-void that drops natural light into the middle of the building. Spanning the void is a steel bridge that overlooks the open plan living spaces below whilst connecting the master-suite to a sculptural timber staircase. A polished concrete slab extends out into a small courtyard that is surrounded by the gently curved walls of the new additions. Various display walls and niches, along with a neutral material palette, respond to the clients outstanding collection of African artworks.
